kelly rocked the house at the 2005 vma's

after a LONG evening where diddy made himself even more annoying than he already is, jessica simpson managed to even outskank herself and an on air verbal fight between 50 cent and fat joe created some weird tension, the 2005 VMA's ended on an awesome note when 2 time winner kelly clarkson rocked (more like ripped) through a live rendition of 'since you been gone' (watch it on mtv overdrive).

the moment was crazy punk and honestly gave me a newfound love for this woman. long live kelly!!!!

current reality guilty pleasure: inked

i actually started watching a&e's new reality program inked while i was sitting in my hotel room flipping through channels one night.

the next thing i knew, i was not only hooked into the drama within the hart & huntington tattoo shop, but totally in love, i mean, admiration with co-owner and tattoo artist thomas pendelton.

though i've always had an admiration for a good tattoo, this show gives me newfound appreciation of how cute these artists really are... oh and their talents too!

for a bunch of macho tough guys, they sure do hug each other alot.

R.I.P. six feet under

last night, after six seasons, the fisher family and all their annoying dysfuctions, called it quits with one of the most amazing finales i've seen in awhile. six feet under has always been one of the best dramas written. by focusing on how deep a family can drown in their own silence, fear and personal demons, a full fledged cast of characters quickly became part of our lives. of course the biggest winning factor of all these wierdos is the fact that humor ran rampant throughout their adventures and though you may not have liked them, you wanted to see how it would all turn out.

and did you see that ending of a series finale last night (with the perfect use of sia's 'breathe me')! [spoiler alert] nate's sudden death forced all of the remaining members into a tornado of a wake up call. in fact, the last few episodes were the best overservations on how grief affects people i've EVER seen on TV, further proving that six feet under was above all the rest when it came to storytelling.

the show shall be missed and honestly, i don't think they'll be a show on TV for awhile that hits this level of perfection.

if you want to read more, the village voice gave a perfect eulogy for the show

watch jamie bell and evan rachel wood in green day's new video 'wake me up when september ends'

two of the hottest young actors around making out. awesome!

don't know how they convinced their agents to get these two actors involved, but green day have gotten one of the bigger thesbian coups of the summer by having jamie bell and evan rachel wood star in the video for the brilliant single wake me up when september ends (rapidshare file).

both actors are generating serious buzz with their respective indie films the chumscrubber and the dark comedy pretty persuasion coming out in the next few weeks.

both have a slew of high profile, yet smart, movies in production (jamie has dear wendy, a thomas vinterberg/lars von trier film in the can and is finishing up with peter jackson's king kong. evan starred with ed norton in the film down in the valley and is one of the leads in the film adaptation of the comedic bestseller, running with scissors)

have i piqued your interest enough? well check out the impressive 7 minute video on aol or on the green day website under video

if you wanna read more about jamie. he's got two sweet fanpages 1 & 2
rachel however doesn't have fanatic fans so her most updated info is at imdb

sweet fun film alert! my date with drew

the most legitimate and cute stalker movie ever made!

though it's been talk on the internet/film community for a good two years, the crowd pleasing documentary my date with drew finally makes it to our screens this week.

based on a personal dare in which filmmaker brian hertzlinger had 30 days to get a date with his childhood idol drew barrymore, team drew (brian and best friends jon, brian and producer kerry) embark on a surprisingly exhilirating adventure that even makes the harshest cynics rooting for their meeting to happen.

it helps that team drew are sweet and supportive of each other, plus brian's genuine eagerness is an addictive quality to a film that could easily have been cheesy. nevertheless, with the lame end of summer selections out at the moment, go and check out this sweet, sometimes inspiring, little gem of a film instead.

for more on their adventures, read the whole story from the LA times.

hot movie: sympathy for lady vengeance

don't piss this lady off cause she will go vengeance on your ass!

after surprising everyone by leaving with the grand prix prize at last years cannes film festival with the AMAZING old boy, cult director park chan wook promised a third and final installment of what he called his revenge trilogy (starting with 'sympathy for mr vengeance').

after a year, the highly anticipated film sympathy for lady vengeance not only opened last weekend to the 3rd highest box office ever in korea, but is set to bow internationally at this years venice film festival (no US date yet, but as with old boy, this film will probably be released via DVD before it hits).

starring the popular tv actress Lee Young-ae, lady vengeance (aka Gum ja) gets falsely imprisoned for 13 years for a crime she didn't commit. after her release, she single handedly decides to go after the group that not only took away her family, but her life.

though graphic violence prevails in all park chan wook films, it's his surprising sense of humanity that makes him one of the best filmmakers in the world.

if you want to see some trailers and clips of the film (no english subtitles), either go to the official website and click on multimedia or check out the wonderful movie box (which is like a one stop shop for many asian films).

read here for a transcript of a recent press conference with the director and his leading lady.
