quick review: sin city rocks!

i have to admit that everything i've seen at the movies this year has been crud... until now. when i first heard that the cult comic book, 'sin city', was going to be brought to life via robert rodruiguez and an all star cast, i literally had to control my instant giddy reaction. comic book adaptations sometimes just don't work out and to watch a frank miller (the creator) piece go to stank would be very unfortunate... so i waited...

in this case, my skepticism was uncalled for because sin city the movie, kicks mother friggin ass.

packing three violent stories into one, sin city really draws you into its' pulp world of corruption, sex and honor in the most surprising places. loads of people get whacked, but weirdly enough, a good few find their salvation through it all. with a cast that not always gets the rhythm of noir (jessica alba... you're hot, but damn, you can't act!), the film protects itself through its warp speed kinetic visuals and anarchic storylines.

when the two hours are over, taking on smoking sounds like a great idea.
