buzz film: stick it

people that know me totally understand why i'm like a moth to a flame for movies (and tv shows) about girls who find independance and identity through whatever means. in the world of film, it's either through ya ya circumstances OR sports! which is why stick it had my name stamped on it since day one.

but forget my blind approval and know that the film is actually a very exciting and fun movie about gymnastic and well... sisterhood.

when hayley (played by the super gorgeous missy peregrym) gets arrested for breaking the law, her father convinces the judge to let her serve her detention training in the one sport that she swore she'd never do again, gymnastics. with a deadbeat coach (jeff bridges) and a posse of haters (apparently missy was a shining star before she left the whole sport abruptly), missy goes on to prove to the others and herself that she has what it takes to be a true gymnast.

hokey, i know, but trust me when i say this, the movie is filled with hilarious one liners (thanks to the writer of bring it on), tense competition and enough heart to make this a sleeper hit of the summer.

gather your girlfriends (boys and girls) and go watch this. you'll be doing backflips (in praise) in no time!
