dina lohan responds to THAT letter about lindsay

according to people.com, uber stage mom dina lohan quickly shot out her version of daughter lindsay's ever growing negative publicity to access hollywood over the weekend.

with the highly passed around letter written by Morgan Creek CEO James G Robinson about lindsay's unprofessional behavior on and off set, dina went on camera to say that the CEO was "way out of line" and that she didn't think "it was a smart thing to do to a young girl".

but robinson probably doesn't care about what dina has to say. according to the author of the letter, he got what he wanted; lindsay showed up on the set of the movie the next day AND on time.

boy george is coming! to clean my streets!

come watch boy george in a special two week engagement on the streets of chinatown!

the new york daily news reported today that george o'dowd (aka boy george) will be reporting for community service starting august 14th on the streets of chinatown.

george was arrested after he reported a false break in and police discovered cocaine on his premises (oops!). the drug charges were quickly dropped in exchange for a lesser guilty charge, a payment of $1000 in fines and the aforementioned clean up duties.

so, if you're in NYC and decide to hang in the hood of chinatown, little italy and the lower east side during august 14-28th, keep an eye out for george; maybe even pass him an empty bottle for recycling.

watch what may just be the best show of the fall season: studio 60 on the sunset strip (see link below)

from the mind of aaron sorkin (west wing, sports night) comes what may be the best new show of the fall season studio 60 on the sunset strip.

taking a behind the scenes look at a highly successful sketch comedy show, 'studio 60 on the sunset strip', new executive producers matt albie (matthew perry) and danny tripp (bradley whitford) have an uphill battle as last minute hires especially after the previous executive producer (judd hirsch) had a nervous breakdown on live television. oh and did i mention that they were fired from this exact same program four years prior?

with an strong verbally adept cast (amanda peet, steven weber, timothy busfield, sarah paulson, dl hughley), aaron sorkin is in fine form with his insanely sharp dialogue and intense plotlines (it is about live tv!).

this is definitely the show to beat for the fall season. so if you want to get a head start, check out the complete pilot here on wongie's tv world.

ooh! it's goin' down for lindsay

you gotta love it!
smoking gun published an angry letter from morgan creek CEO James G. Robinson about her 'irresponsible' and 'unprofessional' conduct during the shooting of her current film georgia rule.

too add fuel to the flame, actor DJ qualls (road trip, hustle and flow) was caught on tape by the papparazzi saying the following:
“Let me tell you this…Lindsay Lohan is not kind…I will say that,”“She’s just not nice, not nice, she’s not a nice girl.”“She has two movies left, that’s all I’m saying!”
ouch!

MUST SEE MOVIE OF THE WEEK: Little Miss Sunshine

with all the hype from it's successful run at this years sundance film festival, i was kind of worried that little miss sunshine would fizzle out when it finally made it to our screens this summer. not only was i proven wrong, but this wonderful film may just be the sleeper hit of the season!

with an amazing cast of misfits (toni collette and greg kinnear as fighting parents, steve carell as a gay suicidal proust scholar, alan arkin as a heroin toting grumpy grandpa, paul dano as the brother who swears a vow of silence to protest against his family and abigail breslin as the heart and soul of this crazy clan), the story focuses on how young olive's (abigail breslin) emotionally messy family accompanies her travels across state borders just so she can compete in the little miss sunshine pageant.

what happens along the way is funny, dark and tragic, yet surprisingly uplifting by the end of the film.

by far the best dysfunctional feel good movie of the year! go see it asap, then call up your overbearing mom and distant dad and tell them how much you love them!

matthew mcconaughey is shameless... and i love it!

thanks to the awesome gossip blog perez hilton, i've been staring at some recent pics of exhibitionist matthew mcconaughey for the past few minutes. the weird thing is that i've interviewed him a few times already and always leave thinking that he's really lame. but then i see pics like these and well... f**k he's hot!

oh and to add oil to the flame, perez is also obsessed with jake gyllenhaal and look who he was hanging out with the other day!

i want that one! tulip ego

billed as the first lifestyle notebook, netherlands based tulip computers have created the perfect accesory laptop for your on-the-go lifestyle.

called the e-go, this laptop is extremely media-file friendly, has interchangable shells (i LOVE the wood paneling one - see above) and well... it's just hot!

is it practical? i'm sure it is, but when it looks this good, do you care?

my fave china actress zhou xun gets miu miu's 2007 campaign

when i was at cannes this year, i was called in to do some translation work on the side for the hot young actress zhou xun. a graduate of the beijing film school (like her alumni ziyi zhang), zhou xun has the look of a young girl, but the attitude of a strong willed woman. it's that duality that makes her the hot new go-to gal for movies coming out of asia.

seems like i'm not the only one who thinks so, next month, miu miu will launch their new fall campaign with Zhou Xun starring alongside Dong Jie and Japanese model Lina Ohta.

miu miu's press release says some creepy exotic crap about their choice of these ladies as they embody the qualities of "elegagance, fragility and naive sensuality". (eck) but at least they got it right with the casting of them (and the fact that china is probably one of the few markets where miu miu actually still means something in the retail world).

anyway, my experience with zhou xun was really positive. here's the trailer of the highly anticipated film the banquet that i was her translator for (the costume revenge drama also stars a certain ziyi zhang in the lead).

about time: lance bass of n'sync comes out

like it's a surprise, lance bass (ex of n'sync) finally came out to people magazine this week.

"The main reason I wanted to speak my mind was that (the rumors) really were starting to affect my daily life. Now it feels like it's on my terms. I'm at peace with my family, my friends, myself and God so there's really nothing else that I worry about."

does this affect his career any bit? nope, still a c-lister...

fun pic of the week: monster house

finally a summer film that doesn't annoy and actually entertains. with one of the worst summer release schedules in history, a movie like monster house is such a breath of fresh air. not only is it funny, but this wickedly creepy kids film packs in enough actual laughs before it morphs into an obiligatory ride by the 3rd act.

i was part of a handful of actual adults without a kid chaperone and i kept on turning to my friend saying, 'i can't believe how much fun i'm having'. trust me on this, you should go out of your way to check this film now (at least you won't walk out in huff with the crap out at the moment... will someone stop watching that loud obnoxious pirates2 already!).

CURRENT TV: nerds go to comic-con

every year, hundreds of thousands of comic book/fantasy fanatics go to the san diego based comic con and get the low down on their favorite characters.

but as you know, nerds have become a gold mine for film and tv companies, which is why everyone from the cast of lost to the stars of upcoming movies like snakes on a plane, grind house and the grudge 2 all present their new product to a throng of adoring fans.

check out these five fans as they trekked to comic con this last weekend in search of fantasy, community and a bit of nerd nookie.

VIRAL HYPE: is the rudebox connected to robbie williams?

[this posting has been taken off my music blog]
totally random, but there's been a bit of a rudebox phenomenom doing the viral rounds these days. basically people are asked to download a clip of a song called rudebox and shoot or edit a video to the groove.

the results have been hilarious (see my faves below!)

GRANNY RUDEBOX

GRANNY RETURNS RUDEBOX

OFFICE RUDEBOX

but what makes this rudebox setup interesting is the fact that the groove may just be the instrumental track to robbie williams new single. though nothing is confirmed yet, i have a feeling that this may just be true. if so, this departure into an electro-fantastic 80's groove makes me definitely psyched about what's to come!

RIP: reasons why footballers wives was the best trashy show on the planet

if you've never seen the itv/bbc america series footballers wives, i suggest you take a weekend, get all the 4 seasons (out on dvd with series 5 coming out soon) and do a marathon of what is definitely the trashiest, campiest, funniest, craziest show on the planet. these ladies, backstab, sleep around, murder and have done almost everything with such ferocious zest that you just have to see it to believe it.

unfortunately, itv announced in early may that they will not be bringing back the crew for another season (though they all reunited for a one off special spoof for the uk sport relief charity). as for the series, perhaps the US might be able to save it in some way... i'll keep you posted. until then, here are some highlights of seasons past

season 4
tanya's intro (her glare alone is worth a watch)

season 3
amber and tanya in a wondrous catfight

season 2
the end of jason turner

season 5
tanya vs JOAN COLLINS!!!!

current fave reality show: rockstar2 supernova

for it's second season, the mark burnett produced rockstar: supernova have collected an interesting array of talented rockers to front the new band supernova (which consists of Metallica's Jason Newsted, who turned into a middle aged HOTTIE, Guns'n Roses Gilby Clarke, and Tommy Lee, who was Motley Crue's drummer). as usual, last years hosts, brooke burke and rocker dave navarro both return to add a wooden front to the competition.

lucky for the show, talent overtakes the ceremonies with an array of voices that just may be the best on tv. it's that reason alone that i'm hooked.

my personal favorite is dalina, a 33 year old freaky rocker that growls through songs with a ferocity that i haven't seen in awhile. get in her way and she will bitch slap you half way around the world... i like that . check out her rendition of nirvana's lithium below.

within a year, internet blogger kyle macdonald has created a bit of a sensation by starting a bartering revolution.

trading his red paper clip on craigslist for something larger, kyle kept on trading up until he started to gain interest within the blogging community.

soon, kyle started getting widespread media attention which within a year, led to a barter with corbin berson, a date with alice cooper and now his final stop of a house in his home town of kipling, saskatchewan (canada).

you just know a movie based on this story is next.

buzz online tv show: nobody's watching

proving that the internet is changing the media world yet again, youtube has been the host of a pilot that was rejected by NBC called nobody's watching. within three weeks, the show not only has had up to 300,000 clocking in to watch the show, but three networks (including NBC) are looking to perhaps pick up the show for a proper run!

give yourself a good 30 mins, but this show is funny!
