the L word is back!

one of tv's best soap operas is finally back on our screens again! after leaving everyone hanging last season with a barrage of cliffhangers and loose ends, the hot ladies of the L word have returned with a total house cleaning (all tertiary characters got the boot) and two new babes to add to the mix.

not only that, but designers have decided that the show is a great focal point of high fashion and everyone from stella mccartney to etro are throwing costumes for the leads to wear.

hopefully the insane level of drama will die down a bit, but so far, it's a definite welcome return to tv land for these sapphic hotties. watch or download this show now!!!!

project runway fans - watch austin's debut at fashion week here

for those of you who have been following the awesome project runway series, you should know by now that 'wild card' jay has already left with the winning honors.

but true fans of the show (like me) have always wondered what it would be like if future couturier austin had made it into the final three.

well... wait no more. as it turns out, the producers put out a call for austin to also show at fashion week, but only as a decoy to throw off fans. though it was never broadcast on tv, austin put together a full collection and showed it in front of many industry heavy hitters.

will someone hire this man already? check out his beautiful collection here!

film buzz: the pang brothers release the eye 10 throughout asia in march

with the asian horror genre backlash in full effect, the creators of the worldwide hit, the eye, have come up with a clever way to revive the tired formula that they helped revise.

in the pang brothers' latest creation, the eye 10, a group of silly teenagers decide to play the ultimate game of dare by tapping into forces that allow them to see ghosts around them. of course these things never turn out the way they planned and bodies soon start piling up one by one just like in they do in the western films. a barrel of fun!

check out the creepy trailer here and if you're in asia in march, definitely go see the film at a theatre near you.

film to watch: nobody knows

one of the best films of last year, nobody knows, finally makes its way to US shores.

directed by one of my favorite japanese directors, kore-eda hirokazu (after life) has crafted a heartbreaking yet, judgement-free film about a group of young kids left to their own devices after being abandoned by their immature irresponsible mother.

at times purely innocent, one never gets that horrible nagging feeling of imminent danger out of their heads, which makes this film equally tense. in the end, the documentary like story unfolds into a piece of filmmaking that will easily linger in your head for years to come. brilliant!

to watch the trailer, check out the US IFCfilms version here
if you REALLY love this film, the japan dvd with english subtitles will be available in march, with other asian versions coming out soon afterwards.

basement jaxx release a greatest hits singles collection but get dropped from their label at the same time?

2005 is turning out to be a weird year for the jaxx. not only did they just win a grammy award best electronic/dance album for 'kish kash', but they have also been dropped by their US label astralwerks for the weak performance of that very album.

add to that, in less than a month, the duo will also be releasing their greatest hits collection 'singles' featuring two new tracks and a bonus cd of bootlegs and hot b-sides through their uk label xl recordings.

all i can say is thank goodness for import cd's and let's hope some cool smart label will get their act together and sign this talented duo, it's basement jaxx for crissakes!!!! i'll keep you posted...

until then, check out one of their new tracks from the forthcoming singles album
oh my gosh

the current rocks!

is this the best new radio station in america? launched just 2 weeks ago, minnesota's public radio group (MPR) has unleashed what they call the 'free format' radio station the current.

with no real playlist policy, dj's basically play broad music based on personal tastes and they also retell stories of how they discovered classic bands that influenced them.

i've been listening to this station non-stop and it's amazing! in the past hour alone, i've heard everyone from the arcade fire to the concretes to kings of convenience. it's pure brilliance if you ask me!

please go check them out online and if you feel the need, pledge money cause public radio like this needs to be listened to.
