wongie stamp of approval: 5 really good movies and 1 guilty pleasure

these five flicks cover the span from dark comedy to sci fi, from realistic docudrama to gross out hilarity and an entertaining heist film in between. whatever your taste, these should be the movies you watch over the weekend.

then there's also the guilty pleasure that you probably won't admit to seeing, but will!

fun show alert: suburban shootout

when new resident joyce moves into the town of little stempingtom, little does she know that she's moved into a community of sex starved manipulative gun toting rival housewife gangs who want a piece of her.

which posse joyce ends up with is just one of the juicy plotlines of the new oxygen uk co-production of suburban shootout.

with comparisons to desperate housewives, this saucy insane show features a right on cast led by the delicious camilla diamond (from four weddings and a funeral and my personal guilty pleasure, what a girl wants).

combined with the hilarious campus ladies (my new fave sitcom!) and the twisted nighty night series 2 (which has evolved to just plain weird) oxygen is slowly turning into a channel worth checking out.

show to watch: project catwalk uk

don't ask me how i get hold of this show, all i can tell you is that for the past 10 weeks i've been obsessing over the uk version of project runway called project catwalk. maybe because i'm such an anglophile or the fact that it cracks me up everytime liz hurley says 'fashion has no mercy, please get off the catwalk', but this version of the popular fashion elimination show seems to be far more interesting than it's US counterpart.

the designers are also more talented. with final cuts that are not only highly designed and more professional, whats even more amazing is that the average age of the hot finalists seem to be under 25. (the winner, kirsty - third down from top, had an amazing collection at london fashion week with a puffy sleeved jackets and sleek torquise gowns. she totally deserved to win).

the show is taking applications for a 2nd season so i'm glad that there will be more! can't wait.

check out the south park episode that tom cruise allegedly banned

the highly touted repeat showing of 'trapped in the closet' was due for broadcast last friday after actor isaac hayes (aka chef) quit because of his dislike of how his church of scientology was depicted on the show.

also featured were jabs about the 'closet' for other famous scientologists tom cruise and john travolta. weirdly enough, the episode was yanked and now the media is overspeculating on how cruise and co may have threatened to pull all promotion of the summer event film 'MI:3'. why? comedy central is owned by viacom, who are also releasing MI:3 under their paramount umbrella.

come up with your conspiracy theories, but check out the episode of south park first!

a day in the life of natalie portman

damn this b**ch is hard!

brought to you by the same SNL crew that gave us the chronicles of narnia rap!

project runway season 2 rocks!

even more popular than last year, project runway has become must see tv for anyone who is remotely gay, interested in fashion or just love watching creative talent put under the gun.

though the final three (santino, chloe and dan) all had their strengths and weaknesses, mentor tim gunn (hilariously pictured with andre at red lobster) has become this years cult icon with his connecticut drawl and dry presentation.

by the end, it was texas based chloe dao with her strong evening line and business savvy that got her the winning status.

for those who want to check out the designs and some clips check it out on bravo's website.
this also means that i'll have to wait another year for series 3 to begin... i'm going through a relapse already!

a live action version of the simpsons opening credits

commisioned by sky tv in the uk, check out this cool live action version of the opening credits of the simpsons.

has it come to this? THE current pick up book for men!

in just 6 months, a book by the name of 'the game: penetrating the secret society of pickup artists' is sweeping the singles scene like wildfire. guys are using codes like 'covert' and AFC's (average frustrated chumps), to pass on pickup tricks that seem to be working on the average single girl.

though many new york females have already picked up on these tricks (by reading the books themselves), guys are now coming up with revised new versions of what works.

i'm not sure whether to feel sorry for these schmos or congratulate them on their newfound education, but you gotta read the village voice article that has everyone talking about it here.
